By definition, Advocacy is an active support as of a cause, idea, or policy. The Arc has been advocating for people with developmental disabilities and their families for over 60 years. We provide advocacy by guiding someone in need to accessing related services, community based resources, parent/family support, reporting abuse, school or special education rights. We also serve on various committees, councils, and boards to ensure that the perspective and voice of people with developmental disabilities is heard. We are also very active regarding state and federal legislation and represent The Arc’s core values.
